Using a Reserved Embed / External Webpage URL for your Live Captioning Event

Captioning deliver to the 3Play Embed and External Webpage URL is available for all 3Play Live captioned events regardless of Live caption integration, production or delivery method. By default, 3Play creates a unique embed code and External Webpage URL to which captions are delivered for each live captioning event scheduled in 3Play.

For customers that would like captions delivered to a fixed location, 3Play provides customers with the ability to use a Reserved (static) embed code and External Webpage URL per project, such that if used, captions can be delivered to the same embed / external webpage for every event scheduled within that project. Further information on customizing your Embed or External Webpage URL is available here.

To use a reserved Embed / External Webpage URL, in the order form, within the Caption Delivery section you can select from the following options:

  1. Create a New Static (aka Reserved) URL
    1.  If you select this option, you will be prompted to name the URL. Once created, this URL will be available for selection when creating future events.

  2. Use a pre-existing Static/Reserved URL
    1. Static URLs you've previously created will be selectable from within this dropdown. Select the "Use single-use external URL or existing Static external URL" radio button and from the dropdown, select a Reserved URL.

  3. Use a unique URL
    1. Select the "Use single-use external URL or existing Static external URL" radio button and from the dropdown, select "Use single-use external URL." This will create unique caption delivery URLs for your event.

IF you have multiple Reserved Embed / External Webpage URLs, this selection will appear as a dropdown:

To set the use of a reserved Embed / External Webpage URL as a project-level default, navigate to project settings, select "Live Caption Settings" from the left-hand menu, and select the check box "Use Reserved Embed / External Webpage URL for caption delivery". Then,  click "Save Changes" to apply the new default.

  • Please note that any changes to project level defaults will be applied for any future scheduled events, but will not impact any events that are already scheduled.

Once the project level default is updated, it will apply to any events scheduled after that update. Any live events that were previously scheduled will retain their original settings.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • NOTE: If you need multiple Reserved Embeds/URLs created prior to scheduling your events, please specify this is your request to your account manager. Your request should specify:

    • The number of Reserved Embed/External Webpage URLs required
    • What you would like them to be named
    • The 3Play project in which you would like these Reserved Embed/URLs to be provisioned
  • 3Play does not prevent scheduling overlapping events on your Reserved Embed Code / External Webpage URL. If overlapping events are scheduled using the same Reserved Embed Code / External Webpage URL, captions from the second event will take over from the first event at the start time of the second event. For example, if Event #1 runs long and overlaps with the start time for Event #2, captions produced for Event #2 will be delivered to the Reserved Embed/External Webpage URL at the caption start time for Event #2.
  • Only captions from the current event will be accessible within the Reserved Embed / External Webpage URL. Captions from previous events delivered to a Reserved Embed / External Webpage URL will no longer be visible once a new event delivering to that Reserved Embed has started.
