Overview

There are two ways to upload Kaltura videos: (i) from your 3Play Media account or (ii) directly from your Kaltura account.  This section explains the second way.

After your Kaltura account has been linked with your 3Play Media account (a one time process), you can upload files to 3Play Media directly from your Kaltura account (without logging into your 3Play Media account). By creating a category called 3play in your Kaltura account and placing videos in that category, 3Play Media will know to automatically upload those videos for processing.

Rush, Expedited, Same Day, and Extended Turnaround times can also be requested by creating other 3play categories as detailed in steps 3 and 4.

 

 

Step 1- Log into your Kaltura account

 

Step 2- Click on the Content tab

At the top of the page, click on the Content tab.

 

Step 3- Create a category called 3play for Category Based Uploading

Under the Categories tab, click Add Category.

Hover your cursor over All and a plus symbol appears. 
Click the plus symbol and a pop-up menu appears that says Add New Category.  
Name this category “3play” (without the quotation marks!) and click Add.
Make sure that this is a main category and not a sub-category of a previously existing category!

Create the following categories if you would like to take advantage of different turnaround service levels:

3play_same_day

3play_rush

3play_expedited

3play_extended 

3play_two_hour

 

You can also order Audio Description (AD) from your Kaltura account, once the transcription process is complete.  Add the following categories to order English Audio Description (AD):

For upgraded turnarounds, the following categories can be used:

Ask your account manager to activate the module, that will turn on faster turnaround times for AD.

 

 

Note: 3Play can accept videos from Kaltura by either Tag-Based or Category based uploading. In lieu of categories, you can associate your Kaltura video with the following tags: 

• "3play" for Standard Transcription service (English)
• "3play_same_day" for Same Day Transcription service (English)
• "3play_rush" for Rush Transcription service (English)
• "3play_expedited" for Expedited Transcription service (English)
• "3play_extended" for Extended Transcription service (English)
• "3play_two_hour" for Two Hour Transcription service (English)
• "3play_asr" for Standard Asr service (English)
• "3play_spanish" for Standard Transcription service (Spanish)
• "3play_spanish_extended" for Extended Transcription service (Spanish)

Note: Completed Audio Descriptions ordered through auto upload will not automatically appear in Kaltura unless "Postback Video with Audio Description Track?" is enabled.

 

 

Step 4- Tag Videos or Add to the Appropriate 3Play Category

Click on the Content tab and below Content, click on the Entries tab.
Under the Name column click on the name of your entry which will be highlighted blue.and the Edit Entry menu appears.
By default the Metadata tab will be open within the Edit Entry menu.
Locate Categories.
Begin typing 3play and this previously created category will appear from your existing list of categories. 
Click 3play and it will be added to the Categories field.

• For Same Day turnaround, add the video to the category 3play_same_day
• For Rush 1 business day turnaround, add the video to the category 3play_rush
• For Expedited 2 business day turnaround, add the video to the category 3play_expedited
• For Extended 10 business day service, add the video to the category 3play_extended
• For 2 Hour turnaround (2 hours), add the tag 3play_two_hour

Be sure to click Save & Close after you have added this category.

These videos will be automatically uploaded to 3Play Media for processing.
Once the videos have entered the 3Play system, they will be added to a category called 3play_processed.
The category, 3play_processed, will be created automatically.
You will also receive an email confirming successful uploads.

 

Regarding turnaround time and cumulative duration of content...

If you know you are going to have uploads that  exceed the recommendations below, please contact your account manager.

NOTE: If you exceed these limits, we will still aim to complete your files on time, but we cannot guarantee the turnaround.

Standard Turnaround: Adding a video to the category 3play will submit this file for Standard Turnaround. This turnaround is four business days, provided that your file is uploaded by 8pm ET.

• The cumulative duration of all files submitted for Standard service cannot exceed 40 hours in a single day and an individual file cannot exceed 4 hours. 
• For example, if your file is uploaded by 8pm ET on Monday, it will be ready by 8pm ET on Friday.  If your file is uploaded after 8pm ET on Monday, it will count as being uploaded on Tuesday, and will be ready by 8pm ET the following Monday.

Same Day Turnaround: Adding a video to the category 3play_same_day will submit this file for Same Day Turnaround. This turnaround time is eight hours from upload time, provided that the file is uploaded by 8pm ET on a business day.

• For example, if your file is uploaded at 9am ET on Tuesday, it will be completed by 5pm ET on Tuesday. If your file is uploaded after 8pm ET on Tuesday, it will count as being uploaded on Wednesday at 8am ET and will be completed by 4pm ET on Wednesday.
• For one project, an individual file cannot exceed 10 minutes and the cumulative duration of all files submitted for Same Day service cannot exceed 2 hours in a single day.  If you exceed these limits, we will still aim to complete your files on time, but we cannot guarantee the turnaround.

Rush Turnaround: Adding a video to the category 3play_rush will submit this file for Rush Turnaround. This turnaround level is one business day, provided that your file is uploaded by 8pm ET.

• For example, if your file is uploaded by 8pm ET on Tuesday, it will be ready by 8pm ET on Wednesday.  If your file is uploaded after 8pm ET on Tuesday, it will count as being uploaded on Wednesday and will be ready by 8pm ET on Thursday.
• For one project, an individual file cannot exceed 2 hours and the cumulative duration of all files submitted for Rush service cannot exceed 10 hours in a single day. 

Expedited Turnaround: Adding a video to the category 3play_expedited will submit this file for Expedited Turnaround. This turnaround is two business days, provided that your file is uploaded by 8pm ET.

• For example, if your file is uploaded by 8pm ET on Tuesday, it will be ready by 8pm ET on Thursday.  If your file is uploaded after 8pm ET on Tuesday, it will count as being uploaded on Wednesday and will be ready by 8pm ET on Friday.
• The cumulative duration of all files submitted for Expedited service cannot exceed 20 hours in a single day and an individual file cannot exceed 2 hours. If you exceed these limits, we will still aim to complete your files on time, but we cannot guarantee the turnaround.

Extended: Adding a video to the category 3play_extended will submit this file for the Extended Turnaround. The extended turnaround level is 10 business days.

• For one project, there are no limitations in terms of the cumulative duration for all files submitted for the extended service level.

 

Step 5- Log into your 3Play Media account

 

 

Step 6- Click Upload button

Click on the Upload tab located on the top of the page followed by Linked Accounts.  
You should see your Kaltura account as a choice here if you have successfully linked this account to your 3Play Media account.
Click on your linked Kaltura account.

 

Step 7- Click Linked Account > Kaltura account

If you clicked on your linked Kaltura account you will be directed to a page listing your Kaltura videos. 
If you landed on this page, click Show me how! located above the Upload button.

 

If you clicked on Linked Accounts you will be directed a page listing all of your linked accounts. 
Locate your Kaltura account and click Settings. 

 

Step 8- Turn Tag or Category Based Auto Upload on

Choose between tag-based or category based automatic ordering. We can only look in one of these fields per integration. 

Click on Update to save your changes.
