Understanding User Roles: Super Users vs. Project Users

This article outlines the key differences between Super Users and Project Users in your account. Understanding these roles is crucial for effectively managing access, permissions, and collaboration within your organization.

Super Users have full account-level access, while Project Users are restricted to specific projects. Assigning the appropriate role ensures the right level of access and control based on the user's responsibilities.

Prerequisites

  • A Pro or Enterprise level 3Play Media account is required.

  • Ensure the user has accepted the invitation to join your 3Play Media account.

Steps to Understand and Assign User Roles

Step 1: Access the Manage Users Page

  • From the 3Play Media dashboard, click on the Settings gear icon below your profile name in the top right corner, then under Basic Settings. Navigate to Manage Users.

Step 2: Review Role Options

  • When inviting a new user or editing an existing user, you will be prompted to choose a role:

Tips and Best Practices

  • Assign Super User access sparinglyβ€”only to those who need full administrative control of the account.

  • Project User roles are ideal for contractors, external collaborators, or team members with specific project-level responsibilities.

Next Steps

  • After assigning a role, monitor user activity and adjust permissions as needed. If users require different access, you can edit their role at any time via Manage Users under the Basic Settings.

  • For help managing users, see Invite Users and Grant Permissions.
