Managing User Access: Editing and Removing Users

Managing user access is essential for keeping your 3Play Media account secure and organized. This article walks you through how to edit a user's permissions and remove a user from your account—ensuring the right people have the right level of access at all times.

Prerequisites

  • You must be a Super User or Project User on a Pro or Enterprise level 3Play Media account.
  • You must be a Super User or Project User with the Manage Users permission enabled. 
  • The user you want to edit or remove must already be added to the account.

 

Steps to Edit a User’s Permissions

Step 1: Navigate to Manage Users Page

  • From the account dashboard, click on the Settings gear icon below your profile name in the top right corner, then under Basic Settings. Navigate to Manage Users.

Step 2: Click the Pencil Icon

  • Find the user whose permissions you want to change, then click the Edit (pencil icon).

Step 3: Update User Role or Project Access

  • In the pop-up window, select the permissions you want to update by checking or unchecking the boxes next to each option.

Step 4: Click “Save Changes”

  • Click the Save Changes button to apply the updates. A confirmation message will appear: Success! The user [user details] was updated!

Steps to Remove a User

Step 1: Navigate to Manage Users Page

  • From the account dashboard, click on the Settings gear icon below your profile name in the top right corner, then under Basic Settings. Navigate to Manage Users.

Step 2: Click the Pencil Icon

  • Find the user whose permissions you want to change, then click the Edit (pencil icon).

Step 3: Update User Role or Project Access

  • In the pop-up window, click “Remove User”. A confirmation message will appear: Success! The user [user details] was removed!

Tips and Best Practices

  • Regularly audit user roles and permissions to ensure only authorized individuals have access. 
  • Remove or downgrade roles for users who no longer need elevated permissions.
