This guide helps you set your account up for success before placing your first orders. Review each step carefully and choose the settings that best fit your needs so your deliverables meet your expectations.
Your account settings control languages, terminology, integrations, team access, and billing. Many settings can be configured as account-level defaults, while individual projects can override those defaults when more specific requirements are needed.
Before You Start
- Make sure you have an active 3Play account.
- Check whether you’re an account admin or a project user. Admins can access every project, while project users can only access projects shared with them.
Find Your Way to Your Project Settings
1. Open the Person Icon Menu
In the upper right-hand corner of your All Media page is a person icon; select this icon to reveal more options.
2. Select Settings
From the dropdown menu, select Settings to open your project settings.
Configure Your Preferred Languages
Choose which languages appear first across your ordering screens. If you regularly dub content into the same languages, set them as preferred languages so they’re easy to find each time you place an order.
To set your preferred languages:
- Individual languages: Check the box next to each language you want to include.
- All languages: Select All to include every available language.
- Clear languages: Select None to clear your selections.
- When you’re finished, select Save preferences.
Order Restrictions
Use this setting to choose which service and quality levels are available when placing orders for this project. Levels that aren’t available still appear on the order form but aren’t available to order.
- Use account defaults: Select Inherit to use the service and quality levels set for your account.
- Customize for this project: Check the boxes next to the service and quality levels you want to make available, then select Save Restrictions. Your project selections override the account defaults.
- Update account defaults: Select Edit account defaults, then check the boxes next to the service and quality levels you want to make available across your account. Select Save account defaults to save your selections.
Localization Instructions and Glossaries
Add default localization instructions and glossary terms to help keep translations consistent across your orders.
Add Localization Instructions
Use Instructions to provide guidance that applies to every order, such as tone, terminology preferences, show names, recurring segment titles, or other details specific to your content.
Enter your guidance, then select Save instructions.
Add A Glossary
Use Glossary to provide specific terms that require special attention during translation, such as:
- Show, series, or brand names
- Character, host, or guest names
- Proper nouns and unique terminology
- Recurring phrases or segment titles
- Leave "x term" untranslated
- Words that are commonly misspelled or interpreted incorrectly
To add a glossary, select Choose CSV file, choose your file, then select Import CSV.
Note: Importing a CSV replaces any existing glossary terms.
If you’re creating a glossary for the first time, select Download template to make sure your CSV is formatted correctly. To review or update your existing glossary, select Download glossary.
Providing these details helps keep terminology consistent and ensures your final deliverables align with your expectations.
Integrations
Use Integrations to manage the YouTube channel connected to your project. Connecting your channel makes your YouTube video catalog available in 3Play, so you can select videos when you’re ready to place an order without uploading them manually.
From Settings > Integrations, you can:
- View your connected YouTube channel.
- Connect a YouTube channel if one isn’t already connected.
- Update your existing connection.
- Revoke a connection you no longer need.
To connect a channel, select Connect YouTube Account and follow the prompts. You need to sign in with a Google Account that has the required access to the YouTube channel.
If a newly published video doesn’t appear in your catalog, select Refresh to check for new videos from your connected channel.
Note: You can connect one YouTube channel per project. To connect a different channel, you first need to revoke the existing connection.
Manage Users
Invite editors, managers, or other team members to your account or project and choose the permissions they need.
Add a User
- Go to Settings > Users, then select Invite User.
- Enter the user’s name and email address.
- If the user signs in with Google, enter the exact email address associated with their Google sign-in.
- Choose the appropriate user type:
- Project User: Has access only to the projects shared with them.
- Account Admin: Has access to all projects for the account.
- Select the permissions you want to give the user, such as uploading files, managing orders, or accessing invoices and billing. This allows you to give each team member access only to the features they need.
- Select Send Invitation. The user receives an email with instructions to accept the invitation and access 3Play.
Edit a User’s Permissions
You can update a user’s permissions at any time.
- Go to Settings > Users and select Project Users or Account Admins.
- Find the user you want to update, select the three-dot menu, and select Edit Permissions.
- Check or clear the appropriate permission boxes to update the user’s access.
- Select Save Changes.
Remove a User
To remove access, find the user under Project Users or Account Admins, select the three-dot menu, and select Remove. Once removed, the user no longer has access to the associated project or account.
Billing and Invoices
Your account uses one of two billing options:
- Credit Card: Your payment method is charged as you place orders.
- Open Invoice: Your orders are added to an invoice throughout the month. When the invoice closes on the last day of the month, the total amount is charged to the credit card on file.
Review Your Billing Information
Use the Billing Information and Payment History tabs to manage your billing details and review your charges.
In Billing Information, add or update your billing address and, if applicable, a PO number so this information appears on your invoices.
View Your Payment History
Select the Payment History tab to see an overview of your billing activity, including:
- Billing period
- Services
- Payment method
- Amount
- Payment status
To see more information about a charge, select the > next to it. The expanded view shows a detailed cost breakdown, including the subtotal, amount charged, and amount due.
You can also review order-level details such as the date, file name, file ID, service description, rate, duration, and total. This makes it easy to understand your charges and match them to specific orders and files.
What Happens Next
Changes to your settings take effect right away. Once your account and project settings are configured to fit your needs, you’re ready to start placing orders for services.
Tips and Considerations
- Make sure to save your changes before leaving a settings page.
- Periodically review your settings and billing information to make sure they stay up to date.
