Before Getting Started...

- Enable Live Captions within the Facebook integration's settings page
- Activate the Live Auto Captioning module within 3Play Media
Step 1- Log in to Facebook
Log in to Facebook and toggle to the Facebook page that was linked to 3Play Media
Step 2- Schedule Live Event
From the Facebook page....
- Navigate to Create > Live from within the Facebook page that was linked to 3Play Media.
- On the left-hand side of the screen click Schedule a Live Video and enter a date and time for the upcoming event.
- Enter an event title and description. Please note that if you leave the event name blank that an event name will not display within 3Play Media.
- Under Settings > Stream ensure that the option Embed live video is selected.
Once these steps are completed please click Schedule Live Video.
Step 3- Log in to 3Play Media
Once the event has been scheduled within Facebook, log in to 3Play Media.
Step 4- Navigate to Live Auto Captions Module
Once signed in, click into the Live Auto Captioning module located at the top of the page.
Step 5- Click Facebook
Click the linked Facebook page that displays under Schedule New Event located on the right-hand side of the page.
Step 6- Confirm Event Time
The event time that displays within 3Play Media will be based on the time that event was scheduled for within Facebook.
Step 7- Set a Target Maximum Delay
Drag the dial button to the right of the screen to increase the Target Maximum Delay and to the left of the screen to decrease the Target Maximum Delay in milliseconds. This sets a delay between the stream we receive and the captions we output. The more the delay, the more accurate the output. The Target Maximum Delay defaults to 2000ms.
Please note: Do not delay the stream within the hosting platform and/or encoding software/hardware.
Step 8- Filter Possibly Offensive Words
Select from the following options from the dropdown menu: None, Normal, High, or Strict to filter possibly offensive words.
Please contact your Account Manager for more information about this setting.
Step 9- Set Event Wait Time
Enter an amount of time in minutes that 3Play Media will wait for the event to start. If the live event does not start streaming or is not detected by the end of the set wait time, the scheduled live auto captioning event will conclude.
Step 10- Set Event Max Time
Enter the duration in minutes of the live event to be live auto captioned.
Note that this feature will determine the maximum length of the event and also act as a failsafe in case the streams are not manually stopped at the end of the live event.
Step 11 - Keep Stream? (RTMP only)
Check the box next to Keep Stream? and 3Play Media will store the source video from a live event's RTMP stream. Keeping the stream will allow for additional services to be ordered upon completion of the event including an upgrade path to full transcription/captioning services.
If an RTSP stream is used for the live event or RTMP is used but the option to capture the video is not selected, the source media can be added to live auto captioning file once the event has concluded to allow for other services to be ordered on the file.
Step 12- Edit File Name (optional)
Edit the file name if desired. If not edited, the default file name will be the name of the event that was scheduled within Facebook.
Step 13- Provide a Wordlist (optional)
To improve accuracy of automated captions for a scheduled Live Auto Captioning event, add a Wordlist of the proper nouns, terms, and phrases unique to your organization that may be commonly used during the event.
Step 14- Click Submit and Copy Embed Code
Once the settings have been selected for the live auto captions for this event click Submit.
Once scheduled, the embed code for the live auto captions and the Facebook embed code will be immediately available in the 3Play account system. Just click "Download Example Page" for the event and add the embed codes to a hosted web page.
