YouTube Live Auto Captioning: Create a YouTube Live Event

This article details how to schedule a YouTube Live Event when you intend to embed the Live Event on a webpage along with the 3Play Live Auto Captioning Plugin.

Alternatively, 3Play Media's Live Auto Captions can be streamed directly into the YouTube Live player making for a more streamlined workflow.

Step 1- Sign in to YouTube

Click the Sign In button in the top right corner.

Step 2- Select YouTube Studio (beta)

In the login dropdown, click YouTube Studio (beta)

Step 3- Click Live Events

On the left sidebar, navigate to Other Features > Live Events

Step 4- Click New Live Event

Click New live event in the top right corner

Step 5- Basic Settings

In the basic settings section: title your event, schedule your event based on your preferred event start time, and choose either:  i. Public → viewable by anyone on YouTube ii. Unlisted → only viewable by you iii. Private → visible to select viewers, and choose Custom under Type.

Step 6- Advanced Settings

In the advanced settings section, scroll down to Auto-start and check the box next to automatically start the event when you start sending data. This ensures that when ingestion starts, this event will automatically start and go live instead of a manual push.

Step 7- Create Event

Click Create Event.

On the next page, select Single-use stream key.
Under Select your encoder choose Other encoders and click Save changes at the top.

Once your event is saved, click into Live Control Room.

From here, you can monitor the stream once it starts.
You’ll also notice a button, Start Encoder. You’ll have to make sure this is started once your event starts.
