YouTube: Add Subtitles to YouTube Manually

Note:  If you want to add subtitles to your YouTube video, you must own the rights to the video.  The video must be on your channel, not someone else's.

Step 1- Download Subtitles

Sign into your 3Play Media account and download the translation associated with your YouTube video.
YouTube accepts the SCC, SRT, and SBV caption/subtitle formats.  Before downloading, make sure you select the language other than English.

Step 2- Log into YouTube

Sign into your YouTube account and navigate to your Video Manager.

Step 3- Click Edit

Click the drop-down menu next to the Edit button for the video you would like to add subtitles or closed captions to.  
Next click Subtitles and CC.

Step 4- Select Video Language

 Select the original spoken language of the video from the drop-down menu (157 languages).

Step 5- Click Add Subtitles or CC

On the right side of the screen, select the language of the subtitle or caption file you want to upload.  
If this is your first time uploading a caption file, only English will be displayed.  
Use the search box to type in the desired language.

Step 6- Select Upload a file

Step 7- Click Upload

Click Choose File and choose the type of file to upload.

Click Upload Captions
