Brightcove Legacy: Add Captions Manually to a Brightcove Video

Follow the steps below to manually add captions to a Brightcove asset.

PLEASE NOTE: The DFXP format that is available by default within your 3Play Media project will not work with Brightcove assets. Brightcove requires a custom DFXP file that will need to be added by a member of the 3Play Media team. To have the Brightcove DFXP (custom) format added to as an output format contact your 3Play Media account manager or 3Play Media Support. 

Once the DFXP (custom) format has been added to your 3Play Media project you may want to configure it as one of your favorite formats so it will be one of your default format options when performing quick downloads.

Step 1- Select the file

Locate the file from the My Files page that you need to download. 
Click the file's name to open the file level actions menu.

Step 2- Click Quick Download icon

Files can also be batch download from your 3Play Media project.

Step 3- Click DFXP (custom)

Click DFXP (custom) and the file will begin downloading to your computer.

Step 4- Log into Brightcove

Step 5- Select the video requiring closed captions

From the Brightcove Media Library select the video that you want to add captions to.  
Click on the Edit button located at the bottom of the page below the list of videos.

Step 6- Click the Advanced tab

Click the Advanced tab on the Edit Video pop-up menu.

Step 7- Click Upload

Under Closed Captioning, click Upload.

Step 8- Upload the DFXP (custom) closed captions

Click Upload then select the DFXP file you downloaded to your computer in step 5.

If you are adding a link to a multi-lingual DFXP file, select Remote and paste the link to the DFXP file next the URL box.

Step 9- Click Save Changes

Once your captions file is done processing, click Save Changes.
