Embedding the SEO Plugin

Once you have a transcript for your file, you can publish 3Play Media’s SEO Plugin to make your video indexable by Google and other search engines.

Before starting …

Content Publishing must first be enabled in your 3Play Media project. Learn how.

Step 1 – Embed Your Video In The HTML Of Your Page

Copy and paste your video embed into the HTML of your page. It should look like the example below – but note that the media player's embed code will be unique to your content.

<html>

<head>

</head>

<body>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pq_KZyWpV64?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

</body>

</html>

Step 2 – Select Your File In Your 3Play Media Account

Log in to your 3Play Media account, then select the file you want to add an SEO plugin to. Make sure this file corresponds to the video you embedded in step 1.

Step 3 – Click Publish SEO Embed

From the file page, navigate to Publish > SEO Embed.

Step 4 – Add a Video Thumbnail

The SEO embed requires a video thumbnail to work. If you're using a linked account, the thumbnail will automatically populate in the embed code.

If you're not using a linked account or if we failed to retrieve a thumbnail from your video platform, you'll have to manually add a thumbnail by replacing the word "undefined" (highlighted below) with a URL to your video thumbnail.

<script type="application/ld+json">
{"@context":"http://schema.org","@type":"VideoObject","name":"youtube-one-line-embed-video-tutorial-final","description":"youtube-one-line-embed-video-tutorial-final","thumbnailUrl":"UNDEFINED","uploadDate":"2017-03-21T16:50:14.000-04:00","transcript":"This video will show you how to make YouTube videos accessible in just one click, using 3Play Media's One Line YouTube Embed."}
</script>

Step 5 – Review Your Metadata

Before publishing, review the name, description, and thumbnail and replace them if necessary.

Step 6 – Add The plugin To Your HTML

Copy and paste the SEO plugin embed code below your video embed in your HTML. Your HTML should now look similar to the example below (note: both embed codes will be unique to your content).

<html>

<head>

</head>

<body>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pq_KZyWpV64?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<script type="application/ld+json">
{"@context":"http://schema.org","@type":"VideoObject","name":"youtube-one-line-embed-video-tutorial-final","description":"youtube-one-line-embed-video-tutorial-final","thumbnailUrl":"https://i.ytimg.com/vi/2LkCMMb-aaI/default.jpg","uploadDate":"2017-03-21T16:50:14.000-04:00","transcript":"This video will show you how to make YouTube videos accessible in just one click, using 3Play Media's One Line YouTube Embed. This works with third-party YouTube videos or for your own YouTube videos. "}
</script>

</body>

</html>

Step 7 - Publishing The SEO Plugin With an Interactive Transcript

If you want to publish the SEO plugin with one of our other interactive plugins, you can simply select the checkbox Include SEO Embed when publishing your interactive transcript. Then, follow steps 4 and 5 above.

Step 8- How Do I Know If It's Working?

If you want to test whether Google is seeing your SEO embed correctly, you can enter a link to your published page in Google's structured data testing tool. The result should return a Video Object with a transcript.
